For those who want to know what my resources of information are related to the failures of free trade, here is a response I sent someone who asked.

Chuck Harder was the first of many who predicted the coming of our
economic crisis. He has been out of the spotlight for years. He was the
voice from the wilderness. Dr Pat Chote who ran as VP under Perot was on Harder's program frequently and he still is interviewed on  mainline
news channels. 

My major authority in the field is Sir James Goldsmith, author of- The
Trap, who led populist movements in both France and England. He too
predicted the coming of our economic crisis. Sir James Goldsmith was a corporate raider until he realized the economic conditions in the world due to free trade. 

There is also,  Manuel Castells who has written many books about
globalization and free trade. I became aware of him through an unusual
high tech venture magazine - Upside Magazine. This periodical covered
the latest in high tech ventures and their stocks. However, it also
covered the human side of things and the assault on workers especially
in the Silicon valley where I traveled for years. The main writer was
Cliff Barney who was truly dedicated to human dignity in the workday. He did an excellent article about Manuel Castells who predicted the coming of The Bewildered New World as it is today. Manuel Castells is sought after as a public speaker all over the world.

I also suggest you read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John
Perkins. I have some reservations about his writing but his correlations
of free trade and the international banking communities demonstrates the things that drive globalization with free trade as the tool.

Most of all is my own experience being in the computer field for more
than fourty years after being part of many other business ventures. The
best economic models are in the past.  An economy is primarily about how many good middle class jobs, it can create. Doing this everything else that is good flows from that. I witnessed millions of workers losing
their jobs in the computer field and actually the Y2k crisis hid the
failures of free trade. The billions of dollars spent fixing the Y2k
problem created an artificial economy while thousands of computer
businesses folded and hundreds of major computer manufacturers went out due to free trade. This came after fourty plus years of long term
innovations and wonderful economic events.

Free trade is not about trade. It is primarily about moving production
from place to place for the sake of cheaper labor. It makes production
portable and subsequently all the technology moves out with the
production phase. Now we have a new working poor class that can not
support free trade or government services to fill the void.

I was a trouble shooter supplyer for major computer manufacturers and
was called on to resolve many data storage problems even in places like
China.


You can provide all the economic statistics you want but none will be
able to show how much value we lost in just the above. Nothing will show how much the value of workers and labor has been deflated.

theories because people usually turn them off and I miss the opportunity
of passing on the real world as it is. However, the groups that Harder
talked about are now openly expressing what Harder talked about.

After all is said and done, free trade has failed and the main question
of our times should be - Who said we had to compete like this with one
another for the same jobs in a global economic arena and why did our own federal government sponsor the moving of factories outside of the U.S. starting in 1956 with this supposedly temporary program never ending.  Now our economies based on making money on money instead of making things has burned out.  All the bail outs in the world will not change this.
